ART NOUVEAU
Art Nouveau is moeilijk te definiëren, maar laat zich wel beschrijven. De beschrijving die ik vond in het boek: Art Nouveau; the essential reference van Carol Belanger Grafton vond ik zeer treffend:
"Sinuous, long and flowing lines and curves; a fascination with adapting natural forms, plants and animals of all kinds, exotic as well as everyday, for stylized and decorative purposes; obsession with the female forms and a new freedom in working with interpretaions of that form. Above all Art Nouveau ment elegance and energy and precision in the way anything and everything was presented, from wall paper designs, jewelry, tiles, and other ceramics, furnature, ........."
